Do you think you can cheat if you don't want to be caught?

어떤 사업가가 가끔 실수로 중복 결제를 받거나 더 많이 받은 것을 통해 추가 수입을 올리는 방법을 알았다. 10년 뒤 어떤 사람이 나타나 수백만 달러를 들여 그 사업을 매입하겠다고 제안했다. 사업가는 좋은 기회라고 생각했다. 하지만 사업을 매입하겠다는 사람이 회사에 대한 감사를 수행하자, 그 사업가의 부정행위가 드러났고 사업 매각 건은 수포로 돌아갔다. 사업가는 어째서 회사를 매입하지 않는 것인지 물었다. 그러자 사려는 사람은 이렇게 대답했다. “당신이 그 동안 고객에게 정직하지 않았다면, 이제 무엇을 더 믿을 수 있겠소? 우리는 더 이상 당신과 당신의 사업에 확신이 서지 않는다오.” 당신의 일터 내서 정직하지 못하다면 당신의 죄과가 당신을 찾아낼 것임을 반드시 기억하라. 결국 당신이 속이기 위해 쏟는 노력은 가치가 없을 것이다. 정직은 여전히 최고의 정책이다.

An entrepreneur sometimes found out how to earn extra income by accidentally receiving duplicate payments or by receiving more. Ten years later, someone appeared and offered to spend millions of dollars to buy the business. The entrepreneur thought it was a good opportunity. But when the person who wanted to buy the business conducted an audit of the company, the entrepreneur's cheating was revealed and the business sale came to nothing. The entrepreneur asked why you didn't buy the company. Then the person who wanted to buy replied, "If you haven't been honest with your customers, what more can you trust now? We're not sure about you and your business anymore." If you can't get out of your job and be honest, make sure to remember that your sins will find you. After all, your efforts to cheat will be worthless. Honesty is still the best policy.
