Have you ever asked your boss if there's anything more he can do for you?

“예수께서 머물러 서서 명하여 데려오라 하셨더니 그가 가까이 오매 물어 이르시되 네게 무엇을 하여 주기를 원하느냐 이르되 주여 보기를 원하나이다.”(눅 18:40-41)

Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him,  “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. (Luke 18:40-41)

당신은 상사에게 당신이 더 책임을 맡을 일이 없겠느냐고 요청함으로써, 직장에서 당신을 위한 새로운 기회를 창조할 수 있다. 만약 상사가 당신의 최근의 노력과 성과에 대해 만족해 하고 있다면 이제 더 큰 책무를 요구해 보라. 상관에게 당신의 일에 대한 계획을 설명해 주고, 가장 우선시 되는 사안에 대해 촛점을 맞춰 도움을 구하라. 당신이 중요하지 않은 일에 시간을 허비하고 있는 게 아니라는 점을 확실히 해 두어라.

나아가 당신이 상관의 일을 어떻게 도울 수 있을지 여쭈어 보라. 놀랍게도 대다수의 상관들은 자기의 일을 남에게 도움 받기를 주저하고 있다. 그러므로 대부분은 고맙게 받아 들일 것이다.

당신이 어떻게 도울 수 있을지를 물어보는 습관을 들여라. 그러면, 당신의 경력은 크게 쌓여 갈 것이다.

You can create new opportunities for you at work by asking your boss if you should take on more responsibilities. If your boss is satisfied with your recent efforts and achievements, now ask for greater responsibility. Explain your plans for your work to your supervisor and seek help with a focus on the issues that are top of mind. Make sure you are not wasting time on unimportant things.

Furthermore, ask how you can assist your supervisor in his work. Surprisingly, the majority of supervisors are reluctant to get help with their work. Therefore, most will be grateful.

Make a habit of asking how you can help. Then, your career will build up big.
