Do You Make Independent Decisions While Ignoring Company Policies?

회사의 규정을 무시한 채 독립적인 결정을 내리는 직원은 간단한 단어로 표현해 볼 수 있다.-“어디로 튈지 모르는 사람”(loose cannon)   갑판 위의 항해사가 느슨하게 풀린 대포를 피하거나 묶는 것같이, 매니저는 그들을 재빠르게 피하거나 교정할 방법을 찾는다. 당신의 결정을 회사의 규정과 절차에 맞추어서 진행하는 것이 효과적이다. 당신의 방법이 항상 회사 규정보다 훨씬 더 낫다고 추측하지 말라. 만일 회사 발전을 위한 더 좋은 제안을 가지고 있다면, 적절한 채널을 통해 상사나 회사 사장에게 그 생각들을 제안하라. 일의 흐름을 막지 않으면서도 제안서를 만들 충분한 시간을 가지면서 상사에게 찾아갈 수 있는 시간을 택하라. 당신이 세운 계획의 장점과 예상되는 결과를 대략 설명하고, 피드백을 요청하라. 질문을 받으며 그 계획을 기꺼이 수정하라. 당신의 좋은 아이디어가 적절한 채널을 통해 전달되면, 팀 멤버로서의 당신의 가치는 커지게 될 것이다. 

An employee who makes independent decisions while disregarding company rules can be described in a simple phrase: a “loose cannon.” Just as a sailor must dodge or secure a cannon that has come loose on deck, a manager must quickly avoid or correct such behavior from an employee.

For effective decision-making, it is important to align your actions with the company’s policies and procedures. Do not assume that your way is always better than the established guidelines. If you have ideas that can help the company improve, present them to your supervisor or company leadership through the proper channels.

When preparing a proposal:

• Approach your supervisor at a time that doesn’t interrupt the workflow,

• Briefly explain the strengths and expected outcomes of your idea, and

• Ask for feedback with a willingness to revise your plan.

When a good idea is shared in the right manner, your value as a team member will grow.
