Do You Manage Your Company’s Assets Well?

우리가 “일을 마치는 것”에 집중할 때, 사소한 유지 관리에 관한 세부 사항들을 종종 놓치는 경향이 있다. 시간이 지날수록, 비록 작은 실수라 할지라도 큰 수리나 다른 문제를 가져오는 결과로 나타날 수 있다.  기업의 중요한 재산 중 하나인 시설물을 방치함으로 나타나는 결과에만 너무 집착하지 말고, 이를 사전에 예방하라.   적어도 한 달에 한 시간씩 투자해서 사업장 주변을 노트를 가지고 돌아보라. 관리나 수리가 필요한 목록을 적어보라. 창문을 닦고, 카펫을 청소하고, 그리고 화장실 청소를 정기적으로 하는 계획을 짜라. 필요에 딸라 빌딩의 일부분을 말쑥하게 하라. 지붕은 한번에 모두 새는 게 아니다. 종종 몇 개의 느슨한 지붕, 닳어 버린 틈새, 지붕의 홈통에서 시작된다. 정기적인 관리가 이러한 문제를 일찍 해결하고 큰 문제로 발전되는 걸 막는다.  당신의 빌딩에 시선을 두고 정기적인 관리의 스케줄을 잡고, 꼭 일을 마치라. 그러면 당신의 처마 서까래가 내려앉거나 지붕이 새는 일은 없을 것이다.

When we focus solely on “getting the job done,” we often overlook the small details of routine maintenance. Over time, even tiny mistakes can grow into major repairs or other serious issues. Don’t fixate only on the consequences of neglecting one of your company’s most important assets—its facilities. Prevent those problems in advance.

At least once a month, take an hour to walk around your workplace with a notebook. Write down anything that needs maintenance or repair. Make a plan to wash the windows, clean the carpets, and regularly clean the restrooms. Refresh parts of the building as needed. A roof doesn’t start leaking all at once. It often begins with a few loose shingles, worn-out gaps, or clogged gutters. Regular maintenance resolves these issues early and prevents them from growing into bigger problems.

Keep your eyes on your building, set a schedule for routine maintenance, and be sure to follow through. Then your eaves won’t sag, and your roof won’t leak.
