Is Your Leadership Focused and Under Control?

물은 좋은 일에든 나쁜 일에든 아주 강력한 힘을 발휘할 수 있다. 적절하게 이용하면 막대한 힘을 낼 수 있고, 엄청난 양의 화물들을 물길을 통해 하류로 운송시킬 수도 있다. 그러나 물이 한번 범람했다 하면 사방으로 마구 흘러 넘쳐서 파괴하는 성질이 있다.

사업의 리더들도 마찬가지다. 그들의 힘이 적절히 관리되는 한, 그들은 회사에 큰 유익과 좋은 열매를 가져다줄 수 있다. 그러나 통제에서 벗어나면 오히려 문제를 일으키고 조직을 흔들 수 있다.

당신의 회사가 오늘날 긍정적인 차별성을 갖기 원한다면, 잠시 멈추어 생각해 보라. 당신의 모든 노력과 자원을 어느 방향으로 흘려보내야 가장 효과적인지 점검하라. 그리고 당신의 에너지와 업무를 그곳에 집중하라.

당신을 최종 목표에서 멀어지게 만들 수 있는 모든 파도와 조수에 일일이 반응하지 말라. 대신 흔들리지 않는 방향성을 가지고, 목표를 향해 곧게 전진하라.

Water can be an incredibly powerful force—for both good and bad. When used properly, it can generate tremendous power and carry large amounts of cargo downstream. But when water floods, it spills in every direction and leaves destruction behind.

Business leaders are much the same. When their strength is properly directed and managed, they can bring tremendous benefit and lasting value to a company. But when leadership moves outside of healthy control, problems begin to surface.

If you want your business to stand out in a meaningful and positive way today, take a moment and consider where your efforts should be flowing. Identify the most important direction and focus your energy and work there.

Do not react to every wave or tide that could pull you away from your ultimate purpose. Instead, move forward with clarity and discipline, heading straight toward the goal set before you.
